BBC Scotland to cover Women's Scottish Cup Final between Celtic and Rangers

BBC One Scotland has announced it will have full live coverage of this year’s Women’s Scottish Cup Final between Celtic and Rangers.

It will be the first time the Old Firm teams have faced each other in the final of the Women’s Cup tournament.

And BBC Scotland’s Sportscene cameras will be at Hampden bringing the audience all the live action from the historic meeting between the two sides. Coverage begins at 1pm on Sunday, May 28, with a half hour build-up to the kick-off.

The programme will be presented by Jane Lewis, who hosts the weekly highlights of Scottish Women’s Premier League fixtures on the BBC Scotland channel.

This is the first time BBC One Scotland will have shown the final of the Women’s Scottish Cup, building on the recent expansion of the broadcaster’s coverage of women’s football across all platforms.

Jane said: "I think the growth in coverage is helping the women’s game go from strength to strength. The cup final will be one of the highlights at the business end of the season and it’s great that we’ll be bringing it to the BBC One Scotland audience."

Louise Thornton, Head of Commissioning, BBC Scotland said: "We’re delighted to be able to bring our audience live television coverage of this showpiece event in the football calendar. It is part of our on-going commitment to supporting women’s football in our wide-ranging sports portfolio.

"The final promises to be a great occasion and Sportscene will have all the action as it happens as well as the best in presentation and analysis."
