BBC Scotland show 'Inside Central Station' returning to our screens this weekend

BBC Scotland TV show Inside Central Station is returning to our TV screens this weekend.

The six-part series, produced by STV Productions, proved extremely popular with viewers and was one of the most watched programmes that aired on the new channel.

And now six more episodes of the show will air from this Sunday (May 3) onwards, giving viewers a further insight into the everyday running of Scotland's biggest train station.

Over the course of the six episodes, the new series of Inside Central Station follows the dedicated staff that keep everything running smoothly, day and night, from the station managers and maintenance crew, to dispatchers and train drivers.

Passengers and staff will share their stories of love, loss and reunions and they uncover the history of Glasgow’s railway past, including the iconic Grand Central Hotel - whose rooms wrap around one corner of the station concourse.

In the first episode, heavy rainfall causes travel chaos for passengers attempting to travel south. Staff across the station pull together to help passengers reach their final destinations.

It's the first week on the job for new station tour guide Jackie and she is trying to get to grips with the long history of Central Station in time for a test run of her new tour.

The Blue Lagoon chip shop serves hundreds of station passengers every day, but it’s a race against the clock to get the refurbished shop open in time for rush hour.

Station Manager Drew is on night shift as he watches over passengers heading back from a day at the races and author Gordon Webster explains the legacy of the infamous Beeching Cuts.

Inside Central Station airs this Sunday at 9pm on BBC Scotland
