BBC schedule changes following Prince Philip's death

The Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Philip, has died at the age of 99. As the main public broadcaster of the United Kingdom, the BBC has interrupted its programming for the day to broadcast the news and tributes.

BBC One, BBC Two, BBC Scotland, BBC Alba, and BBC Parliament have shifted to showing BBC News for the time being. All BBC radio stations have also shifted to a special ongoing live programme detailing the life of the duke, as well as tributes to him.

ITV1 and Channel 5 were also showing special programming in honour of the duke, but Channel 4 was continuing with its planned schedule.

That means programmes such as Loose Women and Bargain Hunt, were not shown as planned.

Bristol Live has approached the BBC regarding the rest of its schedule throughout today and until the Duke's funeral.

During the period of national mourning, newsreaders are expected to wear black - Huw Edwards donned a black tie to present the lunchtime news - while MPs are set to wear black armbands in parliament.
