In what promises to be a feat of claustrophobic drama, new BBC drama Vigil is preparing for launch with a special bank holiday double bill.
And where better to set such a tense thriller than on a nuclear submarine?
The six-part series will see Suranne Jones take on the role of DCI Amy Silva, who is sent aboard the HMS Vigil to investigate a mysterious death, all while tense relations between police, the navy and British security services reach an all-time high.
Vigil is the latest in a long legacy of TV and film set aboard a submarine, with iconic cinematic moments such as Das Boot and The Hunt for Red October blazing the trail.
