Largely unimpressed BBC1 viewers were very vocal with their opinions on the channel's new Sunday night drama The Pursuit of Love, with some slamming it as a 'boring' replacement for Line of Duty.
The lavish period drama, starring Cinderella and Mamma Mia 2 actress Lily James, made its debut in the coveted 9pm slot famously occupied by the hit crime drama and ratings smash before it came to an end for another series last week.
A description of the drama on the BBC website reads: "Freedom, friendship, sex and love. Impatiently waiting for life to begin, two cousins are thrust into a decadent, whirlwind adventure."
The Pursuit of Love had a lot of hype in the days leading up to its first episode airing but, while some viewers loved its storyline, costumes and filming locations, others were wishing Line of Duty back already, despite hitting out at its ending seven days earlier.
One took to Twitter to post: "The Pursuit of Love? So far it's been tedious. The music is the best bit. I can hear the millions of Line of Duty viewers closing the doors behind them....."
Another unarmoured viewer and big Line of Duty fan tweeted: "Missing it so bad. How did we go from LOD to this Pursuit of Love tripe?" and a third reacted: "First 20 minutes of Pursuit of Love and I’m gagging for Line of Duty"
Others, clearly still frustrated by the lacklustre end to Line of Duty series 6, compared its final episode to The Pursuit of Love's first, with another viewer commenting: "It really seems unlikely I know, but ‘The Pursuit of Love’ is even worse than the ‘Line Of Duty’ finale"
