BBC's The Pact is returning to screens for its second series. The popular drama is making a comeback after a successful run in 2021, however, it will feature a brand-new story and an all-new cast of characters.
Filmed in Wales, the series will once again showcase some magnificent locations, including Penarth pier and beaches at Llantwit Major, Southern Down, and Rest Bay in Porthcawl. Last year the series focused on lakes and pine woods with filming taking place in locations such as Merthyr, Usk, and Monmouth. You can read more on this here.
Just like series one, series two will use the device of a secret pact to introduce viewers to a compelling new group struggling with morality, loyalty, and faith as their lives spiral out of control. Bafta-winning actor Rakie Ayola, who is also the executive producer of The Pact and starred in the first series, will play the role of Christine Rees.

The series will centre around Christine and her adult children, Megan (Mali Ann Rees), Will (Lloyd Everitt) and Jamie (Aaron Anthony), whose lives are changed forever when they are contacted by a young man claiming to be a fifth, previously unknown, Rees sibling.
The BBC said: "As with series one, The Pact series two will explore secrets and their consequences. It's another edge-of-the-seat morality tale with loveable, complex characters under extreme pressure, navigating blood ties and divided loyalties while facing the ghosts of their past."
When does BBC's The Pact series 2 start?
The new series starts on Monday, October 24 at 9pm on BBC One. There are six episodes in season two with the instalments airing weekly on the same day at the same time.
What is The Pact series 2 about?
A synopsis reads: "The Pact centres around Christine Rees (Rakie Ayola) and her adult children - Megan (Mali Ann Rees), Will (Lloyd Everitt) and Jamie (Aaron Anthony) - whose lives are changed forever when they are contacted by a young man claiming to be a fifth, previously unknown, Rees sibling.
"There is much debate over whether to engage with or meet this stranger, and loyalties are tested even before a decision is made. But ultimately, the siblings meet the man who claims to share their DNA, a strange loner from out of town called Connor (Jordan Wilks), and the spitting image of their recently deceased brother Liam.
"As Christine realises her hold over her precious, dysfunctional family is under threat, she seeks to keep Connor at bay, denying his claims. But it’s clear to Connor that Christine is keeping a dark secret, and he’s determined to uncover the truth.
"Meanwhile Connor begins to ingratiate himself into the lives of his so-called siblings, winning their trust and testing their relationship with an increasingly desperate Christine. But is Connor telling the truth? And if he’s lying - if he is, as Christine claims, an imposter - why is he lying?"
Who stars in BBC's The Pact series 2?
Bafta winner Rakie Ayola, who starred in series one as detective Holland, will be playing social worker Christine whose, along with her family's, loyalties are tested when they’re confronted by a stranger. It will also star Elizabeth Berrington from Stella, The Nevers and recently The Responder, Lisa Palfrey from Sex Education and Line of Duty, Christian Patterson (Mr Selfridge, In My Skin), Matthew Gravelle (Broadchurch, Keeping Faith), Aaron Anthony (Behind Her Eyes) and Jacob Ifan (Bang, A Discovery of Witches) join the cast.
Plus, rising stars Jordan Wilks (Freshers), and Welsh talent including Lloyd Everitt (Casualty, The Deceived) and Mali Ann Rees (Tourist Trap, Hidden).
What was The Pact series 1 about?
The Pact series one followed the mystery surrounding the death of a young brewery boss, which saw a chain of events triggered that drew four of his employees; Anna, Nancy, Louie and Cat into a fragile pact of silence. It starred Breaking Bad's Laura Fraser and Julie Hesmondhalgh, Coronation Street's Hayley Cropper and star of The A Word and Broadchurch, as well as Keeping Faith's Eiry Thomas and Heledd Gwyn from Ordinary Lies.
