The first episode of the BBC’s star-studded adaptation of John Le Carré’s spy thriller The Night Manager drew an audience of more than 6 million viewers.
The £20m BBC1 drama, which stars Tom Hiddleston, Hugh Laurie and Olivia Colman, drew 6.14 million viewers, a 26% share of all TV viewing between 9pm and 10pm on Sunday night.
It comfortably won its slot, beating closest rival ITV’s Vera, which pulled in 5.1 million and a 21.1% share between 8pm and 10pm.
It was, however, some distance from being the most popular show of the night.
That went to Call the Midwife, which aired on BBC1 from 8pm to 9pm, which drew 7.7 million and a 30.8% share of TV viewing.
