A new BBC documentary follows five individuals from the Shankill Road , as it seeks to learn why hundreds of people continue to flock to caravan sites along the Ards Peninsula, summer after summer.
A description on the BBC website says that Shankill By The Sea is "an intimate portrait of caravan life on the Ards Peninsula, telling the personal stories of those who leave their problems behind in the city and flock to their home from home by the seaside.
"In a revealing depiction of working-class Protestant life, this documentary scratches beneath the stereotype of the affectionately nicknamed ‘Shankill by the Sea’ to understand what really draws people to holiday here."
A clip, shared by BBC NI, introduces us to Joan Henderson, who has been coming to her caravan in Millisle since the '60s.
She tells the show's film makers that she counts the days until she returns to her caravan each year: "I do, I definitely do, because there's just so many people here."
'Shankill By The Sea' is part of the 13th series of BBC's documentary series True North.
It will be broadcast on BBC One Northern Ireland at 10.35pm on January 6.
