BBC's Naga Munchetty slammed as Saturday Kitchen host walks off set after 'dig'

BBC Breakfast star Naga Munchetty sparked a social media storm after making a cheeky dig at host Matt Tebbutt on Saturday Kitchen.

The 45-year-old was invited to appear as guests alongside her colleague Charlie Stayt.

But they soon started taking over the show as Matt and chef Yotam Ottolenghi were about to cook, reports the Daily Star.

Charlie started by asking reports the Daily Star. food hell item, she replied: "Food hell, I think anything sweet, Charlie. I am sweet enough, not really into desserts.

"White chocolate is a thing I really don't understand. What about you Charlie?"

Matt, feeling his show had been hijacked, quickly shouted: "Should I just pull up a chair?"

Charlie then went on and turned to Matt, saying that he is not a pudding person and in particular, he doesn't like pudding with cream on top.

Naga cheekily took over presenting and introduced chef Yotam on Matt's behalf.

"The best thing is, we have Yotam Ottolenghi here as well," she continued as Matt chimed in: "I’ll let you introduce him, see ya."

The host though took it in good humour (BBC)

As he pretended to walk away from the stage, Naga jokingly added: "Matt, honestly, it’s better without you anyway.

“So, we’ve got Yotam here and you’re going to dish up some amazing things for us."

Many viewers blamed Naga and Charlie for causing trouble in the studio.

One said: "What is actually Naga's problem? She is coming across as snarky, surly and they are making this show unbearable to watch. Constant jabs at Matt?"

Matt reposted after the show #giveTebbuttABreak (BBC)

A second wrote: "Anyone else finding Naga annoying?"

"They're totally taking over from Matt and putting him down," a third added. "This is not entertaining to watch."

Some, however, pointed out that the exchange happened every week and said it's just "the banter we needed".

"You obviously don’t watch their handover from BBC Breakfast to Saturday Kitchen every week. It’s their ‘thing’ and happens every week and Matt generally gives as good as he gets."

Matt appeared to take it in good humour and after the show reshared an Instagram post from chef Tom Elworthy with the hashtag #GiveTebbuttABreak.
