BBC's Dan Walker won't return for Strictly tour after intense backlash on show

The Strictly Come Dancing 2022 Arena Tour will be missing one contestant as Dan Walker won't be taking part due to the backlash he faced on show.

BBC Breakfast star Dan became the most polarising contestant on the show as he faced brutal trolling from viewers who felt he should have left the series earlier.

Dan and professional partner Nadiya on the ballroom dancing show were eliminated on Sunday night during the results show.

A source told the Sun newspaper: "Rumours will of course be rife about why he isn't joining the tour, despite being one of the most outstanding competitors on this year's show.

"Usually there are seven couples picked from the previous year's contest to take part, and they usually include the dancers who performed the best in the competition - including the winner.

"His decision not to take part will have been extremely disappointing for the tours organisers who always hope the people who sign on will be the stars who've caught the public's imagination."

Dan and Nadiya were axed by the judges, with all four - Motsi Mabuse, Craig Revel Horwood, head judge Shirley Ballas and Anton du Beke - opting to save AJ Odudu.

AJ and Kai Widdrington will take part in the semi final this weekend, alongside Rose Ayling Ellis and Giovanni Pernice, as well as Johanns Radebe and John Whaite. Rhys Stephenson and Nancy, who have survived two dance offs, complete the semi final line up.
