BBC reveals Line of Duty season 6 release date - and it's soon

The BBC has revealed the release date for the latest season of Line of Duty starring Nottingham's own Vicky McClure.

A teaser featured during the adverts on BBC during the Six Nations match on February 27, revealed just when the popular police thriller would return.

BBC has since confirmed the airing date for season 6 as March 21, at 9pm.

It will be the longest series to date with seven episodes, and Vicky McClure will reprise her role as Detective Inspector Kate Fleming alongside Adrian Dunbar as Superintendent Ted Hastings and Martin Compston as Detective Sergeant Steve Arnott.

While the plot hasn't quite been revealed, series five left viewers on a cliff edge as the controversial police anti-corruption unit AC-12 continued their hunt for the enigmatic and dangerous 'H'.

Filming was delayed due to the pandemic and finished in November of last year.

Its director Jed Mercurio previously tweeted his high-praise for the actors and actresses "for making great drama out of the ludicrously implausible scripts".

Vicky McClure also tweeted in excitement, saying: "See you on 21st March, 9pm, BBC One."

The previous seasons are available to watch on BBC iPlayer right now.
