Nigel Farage is having a bad day, as he faces a “coup” over leadership of Ukip.
But BBC political reporter Norman Smith is arguably having a worse one, after he appeared to let slip the C-word during a report on the Farage row.
Smith was explaining how Ukip economic spokesman Patrick O’Flynn had claimed the party was becoming a “personality cult” when he stumbled over his words.
It is not the first time BBC journalists have had problems with politicians’ names – Jim Naughtie infamously managed to mispronounce the name of the then culture secretary, Jeremy Hunt, on Radio 4’s Today programme.
