Julie Wadsworth, 58, has been charged with seven counts of inciting a boy under the age of 16 to commit an act of gross indecency.

They both also face one count of committing an act of outraging public decency.

The charges relate to four children between the ages of 11 and 15 between 1996 and 1999, police said.

The couple are due to appear before Warwickshire Magistrates Court on 11 May.

A spokesperson for the BBC said: "We understand the charges do not relate to their conduct or position at the BBC.

"This is an ongoing criminal process and we cannot comment further."

Both presenters remain off air.
