BBC Radio 1's Greg James speechless as co-star Charlie Hedges announces pregnancy on air

BBC Radio 1's Greg James was in shock after his co-star Charlie Hedges announced her pregnancy on air.

During the 'Tell Me Something Good' segment of the popular radio show yesterday, the 35-year-old made the surprise announcement.

After Greg asked her to 'tell him something good', she quickly told him: "I'm having a baby."

There was a second of stunned silence before the music cut and Greg finally said: "You.. What are you talking about?"

She repeated her announcement and Greg excitedly asked: "Are you joking? What are you talking about?!"

Charlie then asked the 36-year-old if he wanted to see her belly and proceeded to stand up.

"Oh my god! What? Charlie! Oh my god! What amazing news!" Greg yelled out.

Following the radio announcement, she also took to Twitter to share the exciting news.

"I am so incredibly grateful and excited to be sharing the most beautiful news with you all … I am going to be a new mummy very soon and Baby hedges would like to say hi to you all.

"To say we are over the moon is an understatement xxx"

Fans immediately rushed to the comment section to congratulate the radio presenter on the happy news.

"Omg Charlie so happy for you! I am a big fan of yours since Kiss FM days. You make me proud, fellow Essex lady. Baby Hedges xxxxx yay babes xxx," one user posted.

Another excited fan added: "That was an epic reveal!!!! So lovely to hear such great news live on air compared to all the bad news we keep hearing. Congratulations xxx"

One Twitter user commented: "Lovely news Charlie! Congratulations to you and your partner, I bet they will be a little mover in there raving away to dance anthems! I hope you are all keeping well."

"Hello baby Hedges," another posted. "This is gorgeous news, and the best way to announce on-air ever!"

It is unknown who the father of the baby is as the star is private about her personal life.

Charlie is also a DJ and has even DJ'd at the Sundance festival. In January 2016, she also launched the music podcast Skiddle to Mixcloud.

Before being a presenter on BBC Radio 1, the radio personality hosted the KISS FM Breakfast Show for 10 years alongside Ricki Haywood-Williams and Melvin Odoom.

Then, in 2018, the trio moved over to BBC to take over Charlie Sloth's mid-evening slot.

Charlie also presents Saturday's Dance Anthems.
