BBC pundits outline key reasons for Leeds United's humiliating defeat to Crawley Town

BBC pundits Jermaine Beckford and Jermaine Jenas have identified the key reasons behind Leeds United's FA Cup third-round defeat to Crawley Town.

A trio of second-half goals eliminated Marcelo Bielsa's side from the competition at this stage for the fourth season in a row, with the League Two side securing a significant upset.

That has led to an array of reactions to the result, with goalkeeper Kiko Casilla criticised and Bielsa himself attracting criticism for a trio of half-time changes.

Both of those issues were identified by the BBC pundits, who have made it clear there wasn't one sole reason for the result.

“That was a clear indication for me that Crawley got their feet into the game and thought, ‘You know what, they’re not that good. We’re not scared of them’," Jenas told BBC Sport.

"They sussed them out in the first-half and they didn’t have much to offer in the first-half. That move from Tunnicliffe to go and win the ball, and the goalkeeper situation is what it is.”

Beckford was also critical in his assessment of Casilla, who has attracted vast criticism following his latest poor performance.

“It’s an unfortunate bobble in front of Kiko Casilla, but I still think the goalkeeper should do much, much better than that. He should get his full body behind it. It’s just one of those.”

The former Whites striker also identified attacking woes that followed after Rodrigo was substituted by Bielsa at half-time.

“Disappointing in the final third, I think that was clear to see, but it is expected when there’s not a recognised number nine up there.”
