BBC pundit tells Riyad Mahrez what he needs to do to stay in Man City's starting line-up

Match of the Day pundit Jermaine Jenas believes Riyad Mahrez was on another level during Manchester City's win over Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday evening.

City moved back to within five points of Premier League leaders Liverpool with a 3-1 win on Merseyside. Dominic Calvert-Lewin initially cancelled out Gabriel Jesus' opener, but second half goals from Mahrez and Raheem Sterling secured Pep Guardiola's side all three points.

And Jenas, speaking on Match of the Day, was full of praise for the former Leicester City man and believes he can nail down a place in City's starting line-up if he maintains the work rate he showed against the Toffees.

He said: "The standout performer on the day was Riyad Mahrez. He was different class and a different level.

"He started the game with energy. He put in some no-look passes in. He was the go-to man.

"It was one of the best performances I've seen from him.

"The biggest thing for Mahrez to get into Pep's team regularly is the work rate. He did it today and won it back for them eight times.

"He was part of it for City both attacking and defensively."
