Former Leeds United star Danny Mills believes Tottenham Hotspur have landed the perfect deal when it comes to the club's imminent capture of teenage sensation Jack Clarke.
The 18-year-old is on the verge of completing a transfer to Spurs after breaking onto the scene this past season for the Whites
Clarke showed his qualities as the Championship campaign wore on, with the Whites going agonisingly close to earning promotion to the Premier League.
Mills, for one, thinks the transfer package would lead to a great bit of business for Mauricio Pochettino's side.
While Mills insists Clarke is nothing special as a player at the moment, the former England international believes the price tag is just right so it essentially means Spurs are not taking a gamble.
"He (Clarke) has talent and pace, and Tottenham will feel if they can get him for £8m there is no real risk,” Mills told Football Insider. “It’s not a fee that will break their bank or budget.
“They won’t have to pay him a huge salary. Are there other clubs out there saying they want to sign Jack Clarke for £10m? The only one I’m aware of are Tottenham.
“If Phil Foden was on the market, how many clubs would be knocking on the door? Pretty much every club that could afford him would be bidding.
“There is an awful lot of potential with Jack Clarke, but he’s no Phil Foden. If he was outstanding, he would be playing week in, week out, in the Championship, in the starting XI. Phil Foden is the same age, but Clarke is nowhere near the England under-21s.”
