West Ham given stark warning amid message over key man after Brighton clash

West Ham United have to make sure Robert Snodgrass remains fit in their battle to avoid relegation from the Premier League.

That's according to BBC pundit Garth Crooks, who has heaped praise on the Hammers star after his brace against Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.

Snodgrass has been included in Crooks' team of the week following the Premier League action over the weekend, after he scored two deflected goals at the London Stadium.

But with the Hammers only picking up a point against the Seagulls after letting a two-goal lead slip in the closing stages of the game, Crooks has fired a stark warning amid the relegation battle.

Premier League top scorer: Who leads the race for the golden boot?

"The Scottish international is probably playing the best football of his career at the moment," Crooks said, writing in his team of the week feature for the BBC website.

"He's certainly scoring more goals than I can remember. What a pity his team is struggling. West Ham cannot afford to let two-goal leads slip from their grasp. Such carelessness at this stage of the season could be catastrophic.

"In the meantime the Hammers have to make sure Snodgrass remains fit. They have enough quality in the team not to get relegated but where have we heard that before?"
