BBC pundit names the Chelsea player who is suited to Frank Lampard's change in system

Playing three at the back has helped to get the best out of Chelsea's Marcos Alonso.

That's the verdict of BBC pundit Garth Crooks, who has been full of praise for the Spaniard after his double against Bournemouth in the 2-2 draw at the Vitality Stadium.

Alonso netted both goals for Chelsea in the game on the south coast, taking his tally to three in three games, after also netting in the 2-1 win against Tottenham Hotspur seven days before.

In midweek, he and Chelsea had a night to forget, with Alonso sent off in the 3-0 defeat against Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

But his performance at Bournemouth has earned him a place in Crooks' team of the week, with Alonso the only Chelsea player included by the former Tottenham forward.

"The Chelsea left wing-back scores against Spurs, gets sent off against Bayern Munich and nets another two against Bournemouth - all in a week's work," he said, in his weekly feature for the BBC website.

"[Marcos] Alonso is back to his goalscoring best as Chelsea's three at the back suits the Spain international.

"The Cherries should really count themselves very lucky because Alonso should have had a hat-trick and missed arguably his easiest chance of the game.

"Chelsea are fourth in the table and staring at the trap door in the Champions League. Nevertheless, the Blues are still punching above their weight and that is down to Frank Lampard.
