BBC pundit names the "brilliant" West Ham player vs Chelsea - and it's not Cresswell or Martin

West Ham United have pulled off the shock result of the Premier League weekend so far.

A 1-0 win over Chelsea was certainly unexpected after Manuel Pellegrini's side had gone into the game on the back of a winless run which had stretched all the way back to late September.

But they managed to turn the form book on its head as Aaron Cresswell's early second half goal proved to be the difference between the two sides at Stamford Bridge.

The Hammers were much improved from the 3-2 defeat by Tottenham Hotspur last weekend.

And this was spotted by Alan Shearer who heaped praise on the Irons for their performance in the London derby, citing Pellegrini's role in the victory.

In addition, the Newcastle United legend was also full of praise for Robert Snodgrass.

"Last week, there was a lack of fight, a lack of togetherness, totally the opposite this week," Shearer said on Match of the Day.

"For what they lacked last week, they more than made up for it in running, in effort, for tracking back, for tackling, Robert Snodgrass making the effort there, okay they don’t get the first one, Ogbonna blocks that one, Fredericks’ position is absolutely perfect in covering.

"Tracking back again, last ditch tackle, it wasn’t all about defending, this was the best chance of the half.

"Brilliant from Snodgrass, takes the touch, another one in to Antonio, he came on at half-time and kept his place, there were four changes in the team.

"This is the goal, this was everything that was good about West Ham today. Have a look at Snodgrass, have a look at Cresswell. The ball goes up to Antonio, look at Snodgrass breaking his neck to get up there to help him and support him.

"He eventually gets there, gets the ball, but also look at Cresswell and where he’s coming from. That sort of sums the performance up for West Ham.

"As I said, last week was dreadful, today was absolutely magnificent. Great to get into the position, not satisfied with that, and he tucked it away absolutely superbly.

"Pellegrini obviously had harsh words in the week and whatever he’s said has worked because they were magnificent, and they deserved it."
