BBC pundit names the Arsenal star who was "sensational" in 2-2 draw against Norwich City

Former Tottenham Hotspur forward Garth Crooks was not impressed with Arsenal's defending in their 2-2 draw against Norwich City.

Although, he has heaped praise on club captain Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The best and worst from the Gunners was on show at Carrow Road. Slack defending meant they found themselves trailing twice to goals from Teemu Pukki and Todd Cantwell in the first-half.

But in Aubameyang, the north London outfit have one of the best goalscorers across the division and he netted twice to earn Freddie Ljungberg a point in his first game as interim head coach as well as a place in Crooks' Team of the Weekend.

"Arsenal are in a mess. I take no pleasure in stating that unfortunate fact as they are one of the country's top clubs with a wonderful history," Crooks wrote in his column for the BBC.

"Fortunately they have Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang who couldn't save Unai Emery's job but did save Arsenal's blushes against Norwich at Carrow Road.

"The Gabon international kept his cool under enormous pressure to finish with a retaken penalty and then pulled the Gunners from the brink of defeat with a sensational finish.

"However, Arsenal's performance under interim manager Freddie Ljungberg was far from convincing.

"As for their defending? Well that was a joke."

Ljungberg did note in his post-match press conference that he too wasn't impressed with his side's defending, particularly in transition.

"If we look at the game, truly we started well. We dominated totally, found pockets of space and created chances. I would have expected us to take the lead," he said.

"Everyone can see we have problems on the transition when we lose possession. That is something that is easy for a coach to see what we have to work on and not get countered in those ways.

"After that, I'm extremely proud of the players that they came back twice, especially as they scored just before half time.

"You get that and morale goes down but they came out fighting and got it done.

"The end of the game was too open for my liking. I saw my players getting tired, we've played a lot but in the end it was a draw.

"Of course I was hoping Lucas (Torreira) would score in the last second but that's how it is."
