BBC pundit names the Arsenal player who was 'phenomenal' against Everton

BBC pundit Garth Crooks believes Arsenal would not have won the game against Everton without Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

The Gunners claimed a second win in a row in a week as they beat Everton 3-2 at the Emirates Stadium, with Aubameyang netting the winner in the second half for Mikel Arteta's side.

Aubameyang bagged a brace in the game, having also put Arsenal in front in the first half, after Eddie Nketiah had equalised for the Gunners following Dominic Calvert-Lewin's acrobatic opener for the visitors.

Aubameyang's double moved him level with Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy at the top of the goalscoring charts in the Premier League, with the Gabon striker now having 17 goals to his name in the top flight this season.

But Crooks has praised Aubameyang's overall game, adding the he felt his work rate was one of the key reasons behind the Gunners' victory.

"This was a significant performance by Arsenal," he said, writing in his team of the week feature for the BBC website.

"But they would never have achieved the win against Everton without Aubameyang.

"It wasn't just his ability to put the ball in the back of the net that was so impressive, but his work-rate is quite phenomenal."

Aubameyang was Arsenal's only representative in Crooks' team of the week, which also featured stars from Manchester United, Chelsea, Wolves and Manchester City, among others.
