BBC pundit has his say on Adam Forshaw and Leeds United speculation

Former Leeds United defender Danny Mills has backed his old side to cope without Adam Forshaw if he is sold this summer.

Fulham were linked with the midfielder by MailOnline earlier this month, as the Elland Road club look to keep their finances under control ahead of another year in the Championship.

Forshaw joined Leeds in January of last year from Middlesbrough for a fee of around £4.5m, and has made 44 appearances for the Whites, but missed the majority of last season through injury.

And speaking on the possible transfer, Mills believes losing Forshaw, but keeping Kalvin Phillips and Jamie Shackleton would be accepted by Whites fans.

“I’ve seen Forshaw might be leaving,” the former England man told Football Insider.

“I don’t think that would be a bad thing for Leeds. If you lose Forshaw and keep hold of Kalvin Phillips and Jamie Shackleton, you can accept that.

“When you are a Championship club you don’t have the money and finances to keep everyone. That is the situation Leeds are in.

“Forshaw has been good for Leeds and he’s a very good player. To lose him, you think, ‘this is worrying’. But, if you have to lose him to keep hold of two more important players, suddenly you think, ‘okay, that’s something we can deal with’.”
