BBC Proms in the Park at Titanic Slipways in pictures

Titanic Slipways provided a magical backdrop for the BBC’s 18th Belfast Proms in the Park in Belfast tonight.

Thousands turned out to see singers and musicians from across the world as well as headliners Britain’s Got Talent alumni Susan Boyle and Aussie Tenor Mark Vincent.

SuBo performed the Les Mis hit for which she is most well known with the usual sprinkling of stardust and was perfectly accompanied by the gifted Ulster Orchestra under the baton of David Brophy.

The 58-year-old Scottish singer first rose to fame in the third season of Britain’s Got Talent in 2009 with ‘I Dreamed a Dream’.

Last night she also treated the audience to her version of Somewhere Over the Rainbow.

Pianist Elizabeth Brauss, acclaimed violinist Ziyu He, local musician Tom Myles and the New Irish Chamber Choir completed the line-up for the sold out event.

Ziyu He brought a distinct Chinese sound to the evening, while the perfectly pitched New Irish Chamber Choir brought the audience home with Irish classic Danny Boy.

Picnic baskets, blankets, deck chairs, champers and sandwiches were the order of the evening for Northern Ireland’s largest open air concert in 2019.

Around 10,000 applauded well into the night for a number of musical scores including the theme to Back to the Future.

But hosts Noel Thompson and Marie-Louise Muir told them “you’re a bit quiet for a crowd of 10,000”.
