BBC presenter Huw Edwards sets the record straight on the burglary at his house

BBC newsreader Huw Edwards has set the record straight following reports that he chased a burglar out of his London home wearing only his pyjamas.

Huw has clarified that whilst his home was burgled, he did not chase the burglar.

He said on Twitter: "Just for the record - following some misleading (shock!) press reports.

"Yes we had a burglary. No, I didn't chase the burglar.

"The police are dealing with it."

He added that as the incident happened a month ago, we should move on to "more important things."

"Like Wales winning the Rugby World Cup," he added.

This follows as several news reports that emerged overnight claimed the 58-year-old's London home was burgled on September 16, and he chased the burglar out of his home in his pyjamas.

He was called 'brave' for his actions he now says didn't happen.

The burglar drove off with the presenter's Mercedes in Dulwich, south east London, reported The Sun .

The vehicle was recovered the next day.

The reports speculated that Mr Edwards' three-stone weightloss and new fitness regime helped contribute to his heroic efforts, as he took up boxing over a year ago in order to get back in shape.
