BBC presenter Catriona Shearer breaks into her own home after boozy night out celebrating

BBC presenter Catriona Shearer was forced to break into her own home after a boozy night out.

The mum-of-two shared a picture of a smashed window on her front door after she forgot her house keys.

Catriona had been out celebrating after she announced she would be leaving the BBC following a 16 year career.

In her post she said: "Had a break-in at our house last night...it was us. Went out for a celebratory drink and forgot our keys. What a smashing way to end a good day."

Her Twitter followers found the whole ordeal amusing, with one writing: "Are you prepared for the gradual downhill direction your life is heading? This is what happens when you leave the Beeb."

Another added: "Did you find the keys in your pocket this morning #hopeyouhadagoodtime."

One said: "Sounds as if you had a smashing time."

And a pal added: "whit ye like! Can’t wait to celebrate with you."

Last month, Catriona told her Twitter followers that after 16 years she had decided to leave the BBC.

Announcing the news, she said: "Hi. Some personal news. After 16 years at the BBC, I've decided to leave. 3 weeks left here at Pacific Quay. It's been a huge privilege to deliver some of the biggest stories in the country. You've been great company and very kind (mostly). Thanks."

It's unknown what Catriona's next move is, but we wish her all the best!
