BBC Peaky Blinders Tommy Shelby 'to be killed off' in 'satisfying' return

BBC's Peaky Blinders is set to return with a 'very satisfying opening ten minutes'.

Season six will be premiering this weekend after an explosive finale to season five.

The last time we saw Tommy Shelby, played by Cillian Murphy, he was pointing a gun to his head while screaming in an empty field following the failed plot to take out Oswald Mosley.

Speaking to the BBC, the actor shared that 'a lot will be revealed' in the first few minutes of the new episodes.

He said: "An awful lot will be revealed in the very first 10 minutes of episode one of series six.

"A lot of what happens in that first 10 minutes becomes the engine for the rest of the story and for the rest of the series.

"I think it'll be a very, very satisfying opening ten minutes for audience members."

He added: "[Creator] Steve Knight is amazing at writing these cliffhangers where you think, 'How can the character possibly continue?' Or 'How can he [Steven Knight] write himself out of this one?' And he always does, in a very unexpected way. He's done it again with this."

Bookies seem to believe that the character will be killed off this season, as they have slashed the odds of Cillian Murphy's character being dead by the end of episode six.

Paddy Power have priced up Tommy as low as 5/2 to be killed off.

A Paddy Power spokesman said: "Life without the Shelbys on our TV screens won’t be the same.

"So, once the series is over, I think I’ll head out to get a dodgy haircut and demand an important family meeting - and I’m sure I won’t be alone.

"With major horseracing meets fast approaching, we expect to see every Tom, Dick and Harry attending in their best matching flat caps and tweed in tribute soon."

Peaky Blinders returns to BBC One and iPlayer for series six on February 27, at 9pm
