BBC One Show presenter Alex Jones hosted show just an hour after miscarriage

The BBC presenter Alex Jones discovered she had had a miscarriage just an hour before she went on air to host The One Show.

The Welsh star , who is currently seven months pregnant, opened up on losing her baby in 2017, according to the Mirror.

Speaking to The Telegraph's Stella Magazine , the TV star recalled the tragic moment she went for an ultrasound scan and learnt the foetus had "stopped developing".

She said: "We learnt the baby didn't have a heartbeat. I was around 14 weeks, which is a decent amount of time.

"The baby had stopped developing at about nine weeks. That was really hard. It hit us like a ton of bricks."

But despite her heartbreak, Alex revealed she wanted to get back on the air that very day.

Although her boss told Alex to take time off, she claimed she just wanted to get on with it.

"I said, 'What else am I going to do?' It's a horrible feeling because it is so empty. There's nothing to say. It's done."

Alex became pregnant again six months after her miscarriage, but admitted she was consumed by fear that something would go wrong again.

During her current pregnancy, Alex has been very open to fans about her worries and concerns.

She headed straight to the hospital last month when she feared she couldn't feel her baby move.

Taking to social media to share a snap from her hospital bed, Alex wrote: "Hadn't felt much movement from the baby for a few days so lying here being monitored."

She went on to offer a word of warning to other expecting mothers, adding: "If in doubt mammas ALWAYS check! So reassuring to hear the heartbeat."

Shortly afterwards, following floods of support from concerned fans, the presenter went on: "All was fine at the hospital.

"His or hers little heartbeat was going like the clappers but good to check. Thanks for the messages."

Alex's hospital trip comes after she announced her pregnancy at Christmas time, revealing that she and husband Charlie Thomson were expecting their second child.

The pair are already parents to a little boy named Teddy, two.
