Some viewers trying to tune into the local news broadcast from North West Today were instead greeted with Look North for East Yorkshire and Lincolnshire.

Steve Saul of North West Today presented a news bulletin on Twitter (BBC)

Taking to Twitter, @Haley_HG said: “Why is the local news for Yorkshire on BBC One North West?”

While Peter Wakefield posted: “725am no north west bulletin instead we had look north from Leeds, what’s going on bbc no apologies or mention of this to viewers.”

BBC North West issued a statement on social media to apologise for the disruption, alongside a video of the latest update from North West Today presenter Steve Saul.

@BBCNWT posted: “Sorry. We've got a few technical gremlins this morning.

“We hope to be back with you soon.

“Remember there's local news on your BBC Local Radio station throughout the day.”

A later statement posted onto North West's Twitter said they hoped to have the issue resolved by 1.30pm.
