BBC newsreader Kate Silverton apologises after accidentally revealing Strictly result early

BBC newsreader Kate Silverton was forced to apologise today after accidentally revealing the Strictly result two hours early.

The 49-year-old, who appeared on the BBC dancing show last year, retweeted a spoiler to her followers today as she watched the show on BBC iPlayer .

After realising her mistake, she took to social media to apologise for ruining the "wonderful Strictly magic".

She tweeted: "Oh my goodness - I have spent the day with my family offline & and just catching up with this - as someone who clearly knows all too well the fundamental issue around #stricrlyspoilers I hand on heart can say this was an entirely unintentional ‘retweet’."

Fans flocked to Twitter in horror after discovering who has gone out, with some questioning whether it was "a joke".

While Strictly's results show airs on Sundays, it is filmed on the Saturday after the main show. This means that the result is often leaked by members of the public who have gone to watch the show.

The Mirror knows who is going out but we are keeping it under wraps for those who want to find out tomorrow.
