BBC News presenter Reeta Chakrabarti thanks kind-hearted stranger after being raced to A&E

BBC newsreader Reeta Chakrabarti was rushed to hospital last night.

The TV host told Twitter followers she was taken into accident and emergency after spending much of the evening in pain.

She went on to say that her condition was not serious and thanked a kind-hearted stranger for buying her cold drinks to help cope with the illness.

The 56-year-old journalist wrote: “I was in A&E last night - it wasn’t serious thankfully but I was in pain - a lovely person in the waiting room called Jamie Marshall saw I was suffering and went to buy me some cold drinks. Just like that, a complete stranger.

“Hope you are on Twitter Jamie, thank you.”

Reeta then added: “We spend a lot of time reporting bad news, so I wanted to share a simple act of human kindness - they do happen!”

Hundreds of messages of support have come pouring for Reeta since she tweeted about her spell in A&E.

Many of which were left stunned at the amazing act of kindness from the stranger.

One person wrote: “Most people are decent and kind. Hope you are patched up and recovering.”

Another said: “Hope you are ok, Reeta. Sorry to hear it. And nice to hear that there are still some kind people in the world.”

A third commented: “Wishing you well, Reeta. And big hug to Jamie.”

Reeta later went on to reassure followers that she’s now "on the mend" following the scare.
