BBC News presenter apologises after being caught off-guard in hilarious on air blip

It's been a long 24 hours for many of us - including those who work on BBC News.

Presenter Ben Brown was caught off-guard while he was an air earlier on Sunday when the camera cut to him by mistake.

He apologised to viewers after one posted a video of him on Twitter yawning before jumping back into presenting.

Posting a clip of the funny moment, the viewer wrote: "Seems like tier 4 fatigue is getting to the BBC News presenters #UKlockdown @BenBrownBBC @BBCNews."

Ben has since responded: "Apologies for this dear viewers - I was at the end of a long shift after a 5am start when the director cut to me by mistake."

"The perils of live TV," he added.

But viewers found the moment 'cheered them up' and felt the same way as a long year comes to an end.

"Crying with laughter. You've cheered up my self-isolation no end," wrote one.

Another said: "That's hilarious! You’ve brightened everyone’s day with that clip! "

"No apologies needed - it was some much-needed light relief from all the news this weekend," a third added.

A fourth commented: "This made me chuckle. A bit like all of us as we crawl to 2021."
