BBC MasterChef viewers open-mouthed by John Torode's pre-watershed moment

MasterChef viewers were gobsmacked during the latest episode of the cooking competition after spotting a pre-watershed moment with John Torode.

The competition was once again heating up in the kitchen on the BBC One show as the remaining ten contestants battled it out during the semi-finals on Tuesday night (April 26) with John and Greg Wallace needing to choose their final eight contestants.

First, the amateur chef's discovered just what it's like to work in a restaurant setting. But there was a shock moment during the episode for viewers - and it wasn't anything to do with the cooking.

With judge John running the pass as Birmingham chef Pookie approached with a dish, he told her she needed to communicate better with her fellow MasterChef hopefuls.

He then added: "Go back and tell them you've put their plate on the pass and tell them, because you've just, commonly known as, dropped them in the s***." And fans certainly weren’t expecting the Australian celebrity chef and TV presenter to drop the swear word before the clock reached 9pm.

@HRWright tweeted: "Er...are you allowed to say "Drop them in the sh*t" before 9pm, as John just did? #MasterChef @MasterChefUK."

"Are we saying ‘s**t’ at 8.25 on BBC1 these days then…? That’s new…" @henweb echoed.

@Ariadne_Reviews said: "I may have gasped when John said this #MasterChefUK #MasterChef," alongside stills of the moment in question with subtitles.

"John just dropped the S word before 9pm #MasterChef," @barjacayarm shared.

@Aim2GTC commented: "Just catching up on #Masterchef on iPlayer & nearly choked on the #malbec when John Torode said to Pookie she's dropped them in the sh*t."

But fans were more unimpressed by his attitude than the actual swearing itself as @GillHayward1 complained: "You've just what's commonly known as dropping them in the s**t. Calm down John. Was that really necessary? #MasterChef #masterchefuk."

"John took that round way too seriously #MasterChef," @colonowsop said.

@minieggsxjesus tweeted: "You’d think that coming out the other side of a deadly global pandemic would chill you out a bit over the little things but clearly not for John #masterchef #MasterChefUK."

"Why has John Torode decided to morph into Gordon Ramsay? Too much! #Masterchef," @McbHamilton added.
