BBC looking for Scots cooks to join the new series of Ready Steady Cook

The BBC will be rebooting classic nineties cook show Ready Steady Cook - with episodes being filmed right here in Scotland .

Viewers of the programme over the years will have fond memories of Ainsley Harriott leading two rival cooking teams through a series of tasks in the kitchen.

The celebrity chef will be passing the tongs over to Rylan Clark-Neal as the presenter of the new series being filmed in Glasgow .

It will mark the third time that the show has been given a reboot.

The BBC programme first began in 1994 with Fern Britton presenting for six years, before returning in 2000 with the beloved Ainsley on hosting duties for a full devade.

It was the longest-running cookery show ever to hit British screens - and Rylan is hoping the new series will make a mega comeback.

The X Factor star turned TV presenter said: "I'm so excited that Ready Steady Cook is finally coming back to our screens. To be asked to host such an amazing show for the BBC is such a privilege.

"I'm sure that the mix of new challenges, fantastic chefs and enthusiastic cooks will be a recipe for success, maybe with the odd disaster. I can't wait to get in the kitchen!”

He even tweeted that the show is currently looking for contestants - and Scots are already scrambling to apply. And why not?  You'd only have to go up the road for filming!
