BBC Killing Eve's Jodie Comer's heartwarming message to school friend Katarina Johnson-Thompson

Killing Eve star Jodie Comer has congratulated Katarina Johnson-Thompson on taking gold at the athletics World Championships.

The 26-year-old actress used her Instagram page to send a heartwarming message to her childhood friend after her astonishing performance yesterday which saw her break Jessica Ennis-Hill's British record.

Writing about KJT's 96 point advantage in the heptathlon, Jodie said: "World champion right there!!!!!!!

"We couldn’t be prouder of you @johnsonthompson.

"Your hard work and dedication shows no limits. Soak it all up.

"You’re the best... it’s actually official. (always has been)!"

Fans of the former St Julie's School students were quick to like the post, with it racking up over 19,000 in just minutes.

Liverpool hair stylist for magazines like Glamour and Gay Times, Patrick Wilson commented: "Those St Julie’s girls are killing it!"

Katarina, 26, from Woolton, and Jodie, from Childwall, became friends when they both attended the Catholic girl's secondary.

And despite taking two completely different paths as adults, they have remained close friends and are thrilled to share each other's amazing successes.

Last month, Jodie picked up an Emmy for her role as Villanelle in the hit thriller Killing Eve - just months after receiving a Bafta.

Meanwhile, Katarina has competed at two Olympic Games, finishing sixth in the heptathlon in Rio where she also set a new British high jump record.

In 2018, she won gold in the heptathlon at the 2018 Commonwealth Games, before taking home the silver medal at the 2018 European Championships with a personal best score of 6759 points, which moved her into the World all-time Top 25.
