BBC 'hoping to tempt Holly Willoughby to join Strictly Come Dancing' after ITV drama

The BBC is reportedly hoping to recruit Holly Willoughby for Strictly Come Dancing after a dramatic few weeks.

Holly, who has been working with ITV for many years, has been hitting headlines after Phillip Schofield's affair scandal was exposed.

The TV duo were first thought to be feuding before it was confirmed that Phillip had an "unwise but not illegal" affair with a younger colleague.

With the presenter being axed from ITV, Holly has been fronting This Morning with multiple guest co-hosts.

Her future at Dancing On Ice has also been up in the air as she previously hosted with Phillip.

And now, it has been claimed that the BBC is looking at how they can give Holly a role on Strictly.

The BBC hit is hosted by Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman and rakes in millions of viewers each year.

"Holly is the golden goose. BBC bosses want her and they have been plotting for some time to get her for their big shows," an insider claimed to MailOnline.

"They know how popular she is, but it also has to be the right programme. Recently there has been talk around the BBC that Strictly would be a way to lure her over."

The Mirror has contacted the BBC for comment on this story.

It comes as it was reported that Holly will be making a return to Dancing On Ice after Phillip was axed from the ITV programme.

"Holly wants to stay on at Dancing On Ice, she's made that clear to all concerned and everyone at the network is absolutely delighted," the insider explained.

The source said contracts haven't been discussed so far but the star has "indicated it will be business as usual."

According to the insider, Holly will have somewhat of 'a say' on who her new co-host will be.

It has been a difficult couple of weeks for Holly, who has found herself caught up in Phillip's affair scandal after thousands of people insisted, 'she must have known'.

As well as that, several famous faces also insisted that Holly should have quit her role on This Morning amid the scandal, with stars including Eamonn Holmes and Kim Woodburn publicly blasting the mum-of-three.

Despite it all, Holly returned to the famous This Morning couch earlier this month on June 5 after a number of weeks away from the drama which ensued surrounding Phillip's exposed affair.
