BBC Homes Under the Hammer's Tommy Walsh taken aback by buyer's surprise admission

Homes Under the Hammer's Tommy Walsh was stunned by a buyer's admission on today's show.

Dion Dublin and Lucy Alexander fronted today's edition of the popular BBC programme. Tommy was on location taking a look at houses before they went to auction.

The builder was impressed by a two bed property in Southampton. The home had a guide price of £150,000 and Tommy was impressed by the home.

He said: "This is the cleanest, best presented property I've seen at auction at ever." The home was secured at auction for £159,500 by married couple Nyla and Moeen.

However, Tommy was shocked to find they hadn't read the legal pack or visited the property before their purchase. He said: "So you brought it blind? Well, weren't you lucky because this has turned out to be a lovely, tidy property."

Nyla brought the property as a second home to be nearer to her two daughters show lived in the area. She had a budget of £20,000 to renovate the home and wanted to reconfigure the upstairs toilet, replace the red carpet with wooden flooring - and landscape the garden.

Nyla branded the move a "risk" but the move paid off as she converted the property into a cosy second home that was being used a bolthole by her daughter.

Nyla had no plans to resell the home after the renovation, but the estate agents estimated she would make a £10,000 - £20,000 pre-tax profit so it proved to be a good investment.
