BBC HD box voucher offer ahead of satellite switch that will turn off SD channels

Millions who will be affected by the BBC's approaching satellite switch could be entitled to a voucher for a new set-top box, The Sun reports. The changes will see the national broadcaster no longer run its standard definition channels.

The alterations have already begun, with numerous regional and national versions of BBC One and BBC Two in standard definition being deactivated. Anyone with an SD-only box will eventually not be able to access the channels at all, meaning a newer box will be necessary for viewers to watch the national broadcaster's channels.

Those affected will be able to apply for extra support, with assistance being distributed judging on your "household and lifestyle", with eligible customers entitled to a home installation visit or a voucher.

"We are providing some assistance for elderly audiences or those in need of extra support," the official switch site says.

"However, depending on demand, the quickest way to get yourself ready for the switchover will be to buy your own HD TV Box from one of the high-street retailers above."

Customers will be able to apply for support at hdsatelliteupgrade.co.uk.
