BBC EastEnders: Iconic character set for 'bombshell' return

Lucy Benjamin is set to bring her EastEnders character, Lisa Fowler, back to Albert Square as she returns to the BBC soap opera later this year. The character was last seen on our screens four years ago, leaving for Portugal with daughter Louise (Tilly Keeper) and granddaughter Peggy.

Lisa’s return to EastEnders is destined to wreak havoc for Peggy’s dad Keanu Taylor, who also fathered a child with Phil’s wife Sharon. Keanu and Sharon are currently playing happy families on the show as they co-parent their son, Albie, together.

Speaking of her return, Lucy said in an interview with The Mirror: "I can't wait to return as Lisa after leaving for Portugal with Louise and Peggy in 2019." No doubt, in true Lisa fashion, she will bring plenty of drama for many of the characters, which is why playing her is such a delight.”

EastEnders boss Chris Clenshaw said: "We couldn’t be more thrilled to have Lisa back for a short while as she and Peggy cause trouble between the happy couple, Sharon and Keanu."

Lisa initially appeared on the show between 1998-2003 and was involved in several major storylines - including being revealed as the person responsible for shooting Phil Mitchell in 2001. Since then, she has returned to the Square on a number of occasions.

Lisa is the latest old favourite to return after Kathy Beale, Mel Owen and Kat Moon. Michelle Collins is set to return from the dead as Cindy Beale along with Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt).

EastEnders is available to watch on BBC iPlayer. For more showbiz and television stories get our newsletter here.
