BBC EastEnders heartbroken over Chantelle's death as 'iconic' character returns

BBC EastEnders fans were heartbroken by characters' reactions to Chantelle's death - but the blow was softened by the return of Stacey Slater.

Chantelle Atkins sadly met a tragic end at the hands of her abuser and husband Gray Atkins in Friday's episode.

EastEnders viewers had watched as Chantelle plotted her escape from Gray for weeks.

While on a family holiday, Gray rifled through her suitcases and found the poker chip she'd been hiding in her make-up bag to fund her escape from him.
