BBC EastEnders' fans stunned at how character knew Liverpool FC got through to Champions League final

EastEnders fans were left stunned this evening after a character on Albert Square knew that Liverpool had made it through to the Champions League final.

Soaps are filmed weeks, even months in advance, but viewers were impressed at the amount of current news events Honey Mitchell knew.

Speaking to Louise Mitchell, who has just found out she is pregnant with Keanu's baby, she said: "That is such good news about the baby, and the name, the name is perfect. Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. So natural and formal."

She then goes on to tell Tiffany who didn't seem to care about the news: "All people are talking about Liverpool and Tottenham battling it out to become the league of champions, I mean this is a Royal Baby. I mean, he is... something in line to the throne."

Honey, played by Emma Barton, then made an outlandish claim: "This little Archie could soon, one day, be our king."

ITV The Chase contestant branded 'selfish' as viewers turn over to BBC's Pointless

While that will probably not be the case, it didn't stop viewers taking to Twitter to commend the show on the efforts they went to.

One, @LouReid84, said: "#Eastenders are so current talking about the #ChampionsLeague or League of Champions as Honey calls it."

Another, @JayStuartWilt, tweeted: "Omg! #EastEnders are very up to date .....Showing and talking about The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s baby and calling him by his name #ArchieHarrison and then #Tottenham and #Liverpool matches! When was this film? Holy smoke."

A third, @SnowAndBeach, said: "Check out @bbceastenders reshooting scenes reacting to the #RoyalBaby being born/named & the football scores regarding #Liverpool & Tottenham!

Comedian Adrian Edmondson joins EastEnders as Jean Slater's love interest

Another said: "How does Honey know about the Prince Archie name if the episode was filmed months ago.."

Liverpool won their semi final second leg against Barcelona in a stunning 4-0 victory at Anfield on Tuesday and face Tottenham in Madrid on June 1.
