BBC EastEnders fans in tears as Sharon Watts leaves Walford

EastEnders fans were in shock tonight as Sharon Watts left Walford in a surprise twist.

Over the past few weeks, Sharon has been struggling after her son Dennis died during a boat accident in February.

Sharon, who admitted she was a 'mess', packed up her suitcases and was about to leave Albert Square before Phil Mitchell attempted to stop her.

Despite offering to come with her, Sharon insisted she visit Michelle in Australia alone.

She told Phil she would return in a couple of weeks time, however Phil was more than sceptical, asking her: "Will you?"

Viewers were stunned by Sharon's exit, taking to Twitter to discuss the drama.

One fan wrote: "SHARON NO PLEASE DON'T DO THIS."

Alessia said: "NO SHARON DON’T GO."

A third tweeted: "And so the Sharon Watts drought begins."

Gilby said: "I'm not going to see Sharon on my screen till after lockdown and the cast return to filming", followed by crying emojis.

And Nic said: "Sharon’s off for a couple of weeks? That’s at least a month during lockdown!"
