BBC drama Guilt to begin three-week filming stint in city centre

Several city centre roads will be closed as filming for a BBC series continues.

The Bafta-award winning crime drama Guilt will be shooting in the city from this weekend.

Actors Mark Bonnar and Jamie Sives have been filming in Glasgow since late last year when they were spotted in the south side.

The four-part second series, written again by Neil Forsyth, picks up the action two years after the dramatic finale which saw two disparate brothers, Max (Mark Bonnar) and Jake (Jamie Sives) face the consequences of their guilt after accidentally killing an old man.

Over three weeks, parts of the city centre, Clydeside and roads in north of the city will be shut to traffic for up to 15 hours.

A former Lord Provost has slammed plans to close roads, which could impact drivers and health workers trying to serve vulnerable people in the city.

Alex Mosson, Lord Provost of Glasgow between 1999 and 2003, said: “Why is it all right for actors and cameramen allowed to go to their work and walk about the streets and cause inconvenience on a huge scale like this? Frankly, it beggars belief the city council should allow this to go ahead.”

A spokesman for Glasgow City Council said: “Filming is allowed under Scottish Government guidance, and it is the responsibility of production companies to ensure social distancing is practised during this time.”
