BBC drama 'Guilt' replaces Leith with St Leonards as filming in Edinburgh 'too difficult'

East Kilbride was used as a stand in for Leith in new BBC Scotland drama 'Guilt'.

In an interview with the website Broadcast, cast and crew of Guilt criticised Edinburgh's ability to host filming, despite big money films such as Fast and Furious also having production take place in the city.

Producer Jules Hussey said: "The tourist footfall alone in Edinburgh makes getting across town hellish.”

The drama was mostly filmed at Parkhouse Business Park in Glasgow, but scenes supposedly set in Leith were instead filmed in St Leonards, East Kilbride.

'Guilt' stars East Kilbrides own Mark Bonnar, and episode two airs tonight at 10pm on BBC2.

Mark went to Murray Primary School, before moving to Edinburgh when he was a child.

In tonights episode, Max (played by Bonnar) tries to derail the private detective he engaged to assuage Walter's niece Angie's fears.

Max is also dealing with threats from Walter's neighbour Sheila, who reveals that she witnessed something that night. For a price she will keep her mouth shut. Can Max convince his increasingly suspicious wife, Claire, to part with the money under the guise of yet another lie?

Mark Bonnar has also been interacting with us at EK News, sharing our poll on his Twitter page.
