BBC DIY SOS viewers 'in tears' and 'blown away' by Leeds special episode

Viewers broke out in tears during the DIY SOS Children in Need special which saw Nick Knowles and his team come to Leeds to help a girls charity.

The Leeds community and a string of celebrities came together to build a new headquarters for charity Getaway Girls. At the end of the BBC One show, the Getaway Girls choir came together for their first performance at the new site.

Those watching were "blown away" and "crying" at the beautiful performance and the community support which made it all possible. Viewers showed their appreciation on social media.

A Barron took to Twitter, she said: "WOW, WOW, WOW [sic]. What an emotional roller coaster...blown away by what I have just watched . Safe Spaces for our young people (boys or girls) are needed in all cities."
Leeds woman Sofie McGrath said: "Yes I'm crying at #DIYSOS even more so that it's just down the road."

Brett Hadley said: "Inspiring. Emotional and going to make such a difference. Uplifting telly at its finest."

Peter, last name not disclosed, said: "Always makes you cry. And I’m a 52 year old bloke. Fab that #DIYSOS."

Shilpa Patel said: Crying BIG at this awesome "God Bless all those who helped build the amazing place for Getaway Girls. Much love to all those lovely girls too!"
