BBC Cymru launches first Welsh language podcast specifically for LGBT+ people

A new Welsh language podcast focusing on LGBT+ topics has been launched by the BBC.

On Saturday, BBC Cymru launched 'Esgusodwch fi?' (Excuse me?), the first Welsh language podcast for LGBT+ discussion.

The exciting 12-part series will invite familiar faces from across Wales to share their personal opinions and experiences on identity and current affairs.

Promised to be filled with laughs and chats, the podcast will balance out LGBT+ discussions with no holds barred debates. Compared to other countries within the UK, Wales and its LGBT+ life differentiate drastically, with Welsh language and LGBT+ life being intertwined but lacking much conversation.

According to the podcast creators, the show will give the LGBT+ community in Wales a "voice" enabling "a bit of everything" from light-hearted chats to LGBT+ topics affecting the entire world.

The series will be hosted by actor Meilir Rhys Williams and LGBT+ rights campaigner Iestyn Wyn.

Meilir said: "I'm really looking forward to inviting everyone to be part of the conversations we not be familiar with having in Welsh. This podcast will be an opportunity for people to ask questions, to discuss and to shine a light on other perspectives and issues in the LGBT+ community here in Wales and beyond."

"I’ve really looked forward to launching Esgusodwch fi? Working on the podcast with Meilir has already been so much fun – we’ve been planning since August," campaigner Iestyn said.

"We can’t wait to create and share the content. More than anything, I’m looking forward to welcoming lots of interesting guests to join us and to hear their opinions, experiences and stories."

The first two of the 12 episodes are available to listen to now over on BBC Sounds.
