BBC confirms it is investigating its Summer Social event after complaints

The BBC is currently investigating complaints made against its Summer Social event which took place at Liverpool's Croxteth Park last weekend.

Throughout both days, parents and families took to Twitter to share their anger at being caught up in the chaos of traffic jams and long delays.

BBC Summer Social took place over Saturday and Sunday with artists including Pixie Lott, Busted and John Newman all performing.

Twitter user @jimmyb5566 said: "Just arrived and got in!!!! that's 4 hours people! The day is nearly over.

"The kids are heartbroken as they have missed everything they wanted to see."

User @ELubomski said: "@bbcsummersocial is there some road issue just before we get in to parking? Been sat here 26 minutes and barely moved."

Once inside the same user said: "Yeah took us an hour. When we got into it there's staff everywhere moving people so causally and that's frustrating when you've already missed stuff."

While nothing has yet to be confirmed regarding refunds, the BBC is investigating the complaints it has recieved.

On Sunday, BBC Summer Social released a joint statement with Liverpool City Council in regards to the chaotic traffic over the last two days.

"It said: "We apologise to anyone who has been delayed getting into the car parks at Croxteth Park for Summer Social today.

"The ongoing impact of last week's torrential rain has meant that we have been unable to use one of the car park entrances which has slowed things down considerably.

"Please be assured that we are doing everything we can to get people in as quickly as possible."

Once inside, ECHO photographers snapped families enjoying the entertainment and acts throughout both days - you can take a look at our gallery here to see if you can spot yourself.
