BBC Christmas TV line-up confirmed including Gavin and Stacey and Call The Midwife

The BBC have revealed their fun-packed Christmas TV line-up for 2019, with a number of big dramas and series on Christmas Day and all over the festive period.

EastEnders fans were told an "explosive" storyline would air on Christmas Day, as Sharon Mitchell and Keanu Taylor's baby secret comes to light.

Amid death rumours, those wanting something a little more light-hearted to calm themselves down are in luck.

It's now also been confirmed that Gavin and Stacey's Christmas special will also air on Christmas Day, while the festive edition of Call The Midwife will also be on the box for an unmissable episode.

Fans of Mrs Brown's Boys will get an extra treat, with two episodes on the BBC over Christmas and New Year.

Doctor Who fans aren't being missed out either, with the Time Lord back on screens at some point too.

Another return of sorts is Miranda, with a celebratory special Miranda: My Such Fun Celebration featuring the cast and crew looking back at the sitcom's highlights 10 years after it first aired.

Obviously it wouldn't be Christmas on the BBC without The Queen's Christmas Message, or the festive edition of Strictly Come Dancing starring some old favourites.

Holly Willoughby and Bradley Walsh's new one-off show is making its debut too, Take Off With Bradley and Holly.

Other hit shows getting an Xmas edition include Still Open All Hours, Not Going Out and Top Gear.

But that's not all, as there's plenty new bits and bobs on the channel coming in a matter of weeks.

There's A Christmas Carol, starring Guy Pearce, and an adaptation of Dracula by Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss to look forward to.

Joining them is new drama The Trial Of Christine Keeler, starring James Norton, Ellie Bamber and Emilia Fox.

There's also animations including the Snail And The Whale and Mimi And The Mountain Dragon.

But it doesn't stop there, with comedian Michael McIntyre's Big Christmas Show back, with guests including Strictly judge Craig Revel Horwood and Sharon Osbourne.

Worzel Gummidge gets a look in too, alongside a feature-length documentary called The Last Igloo, which will follow a typical day in the life of an Inuit hunter.

Some familiar faces including Mary Berry, Lucy Worsley and Gareth Malone also appear in different shows, as does Hugh Grant.

Worzel Gummidge, starring Mackenzie Crook, will also air over Christmas alongside Doctor Who, with Jodie Whittaker returning as the Time Lord.

Music fans also have some things to look forward too, including a film on Liam Gallagher, The Magic Flute from Glyndebourne and a new documentary about Dolly Parton.

BBC content director Charlotte Moore said: "The BBC has assembled a sensational range of programmes to give viewers a festive season filled with Christmas crackers.

"We are bringing back some classic favourites with the likes of Gavin And Stacey, Miranda, Scrooge and Dracula as well as introducing original new shows too.

"Whether you're a fan of drama, comedy, entertainment or simply want to wallow in the beauty of the natural world, there really is no better place to be than watching the BBC this Christmas."
