BBC Carol Kirkwood apologises after embarrassing slip of the tongue live on air

BBC weather presenter Carol Kirkwood has apologised after an embarrassing slip of the tongue this morning.

The Scottish weather presenter was reporting live from Greenwich Park in London and said: "Good morning everybody and Greenwich Park is one of the oldest enclosed of the royal parks and look at it - fabulous.

" The sun is beating down, we've seen lots of doggers - lots of, not doggers of course, lots of dog walkers and joggers around here through the course of this morning."

After the segment, the 58-year-old took to Twitter to apologise.

She said: "That will teach me to try and say joggers and dog walkers in the same sentence!!! Sorry!"

Followers were impressed with her speedy recovery following the blunder.

Michelle tweeted: "So commendable how you kept a straight face - ever the professional!"

Mark said: "That was brilliant. How did you keep a straight face? I'd have lost it".

TV critic Scott Bryan branded her an "icon" following the slip of the tongue.

Carol Kirkwood is the main weather presenter on BBC Breakfast.

In 2015, she took part in popular ballroom reality competition, Strictly Come Dancing.
