BBC Breakfast weather presenter Carol Kirkwood makes 'dogging' slip up during live weather forecast

BBC weather presenter Carol Kirkwood was left red-faced on Monday morning after making a 'dogging' blunder live on air.

Just as she does most mornings, former Strictly contestant Carol was on hand to give weather updates during BBC Breakfast, appearing on location from London's Greenwich Park.

But it was while describing her surroundings that viewer favourite made the slip-up. Speaking to the hosts in the studio just before 8am, she said: "Greenwich Park is one of the oldest Royal parks and look at it....fabulous! The sun is beating down, we've seen plenty of doggers."

Immediately picking up on her slip of the tongue, Carol spluttered: "No doggers of course...lots of dog walkers and joggers round here through the course of this morning," before launching into the day's forecast.

Unfortunately for Carol, while she was quick to correct herself, people watching at home were quick to pick up on her mistake, with clips rapidly going viral.

Radio 1 DJ Greg James shared one and tweeted: "Yet further proof that @carolkirkwood is a National Treasure." Piers Morgan picked up on Greg's post and quoted it with the words "BRILLIANT" alongside a series of crying laughing emojis.

Carol herself took to Twitter to apologise, writing: "That will teach me to try and say joggers and dog walkers in the same sentence!!! Sorry!"

One of her BBC colleagues, Francis Keogh joked: "I almost called the police when I heard!!" while one of her many followers reacted: "I laughed, really cheered me up on a Monday morning. You legend"
